Description of Significance CONSTRUCTED IN 1913 AS A LINE ELEVATOR ON THE WICHITA FALLS AND NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD. CONSTRUCTED FOR THE SAPPINGTON GRAIN COMPANY SOON AFTER THE RAILROAD WAS CONSTRUCTED, THE KNOWLES ELEVATOR SERVED EASTERN BEAVER COUNTY UNTIL THE GREAT DEPRESSION WIPED OUT THE FARMS THAT UTILIZED IT. IT IS AN EXAMPLE OF A STUDDED, IRON-CLAD ELEVATOR AND WAS LISTED IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER 5/13/83.
